Title: Speed Correction
Post by: hhf32 on September 02, 2005, 09:55:20 AM
I have a friend who is looking to fix a show he taped and here is a copy of the the problem he's having,

"can ANYTHING be done for a show that has speed problems (i.e. where the tape sped up/slow down), i.e. does Soundforge have some kind of magic fixer after the file is recorded in where you can give it a pitch/speed sample (the 1st 4 songs are fine, after that the belt on the analog starts to go) and it can equalize the pitch/key to that speed of the earlier songs...?"

I figured if anyone would know anything about this it would be someone here. I've experienced changing the speed on a whole show but don't have any experience with this particular problem. Any input or suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Usually sample rate conversion   change is all that you need.
Which version of SF ?

There are pitch tools, but tempo (bpm) stays the same and pitch changes.
I'd guess you want speed change, as in tempo and pitch.

Where was that when I was a kid???  ;D

I'm not sure what version of SF he's using. From what I understand is that the 1st 4 songs are ok, so he's wondering if there's a way to use those as a reference point and correct the speed of the remaning tracks to those. So, the remaining tracks probably are going in and out of pitch as the belt was slipping.
