Title: Sound Devices MP-1
Post by: lstelie on September 26, 2005, 01:54:52 AM
Hello,

I need an unit to record voice (interviews) with a rather good "radio like" quality

The all-in-one unit like Fostex FR-2 and Marantz seems to have pretty weak preamps especially considered their price tag, and they are big machines.

I think I would go for a Edirol R-1 and a mic preamp (the R-1 is usable stand alone for light situation and the preamp would give me better results when size or cables are not a problem)

After looking back and forth I found the Sound Devices MP-1, a one chanel preamp/Phamton that is sold for aroud 290$ (B&H)

As ant body an idea of the quality of this little box.

It's the same manufacturer than the MixPre (but half the price, one channel only).

Thanks in advance
