Title: 722 Filenaming Question
Post by: mhibbs on September 27, 2005, 08:03:15 PM
Almost screwed up last night (I think).  Here's the story.  I taped Built to Spill in Austin Sat night, which was the last show I had taped going in to last night.  I forgot to change the filename for The Walkmen last night, so the first take is written as BTST3 (1 & 2 being Sat night but already moved off to the computer).  I noticed it, and thought "need to change that" after their set.  So I did.  I deleted BTS, then realized BTS was fine since that's who I was about to tape again (yeah, beer involved) so I added it back.  Which of course reset the counter.  So, first take of BTS is labeled as BTST1 and it occurs to me, oh shit, there is already a file on here called BTST3, so if this show goes over 2hrs, it's going to either 1. overwrite the existing BTST3 (actually The Walkmen file) or 2. it's going to throw some error or 3. it's going to be smart and skip to BTST4.    Luckily they didn't go over 2hrs, and it crossed midnight in the middle of file 2, so file 3 I would expect would have been created in a different date folder anyway...  Anyone know?  I don't plan on doing this again, but I thought it was an interesting dilemma that I got myself into.

On mine it is configured to use new folders for each day. so it wouldn't over write in this case.

ok i did some testing.  when it saves the file it adds an A, B, ... etc. to the file.  Guess you can do it 26 times (36 if it goes thru the #s)

TEST1.WAV
TEST2.WAV
NEWT1.WAV
NEWT2.WAV
TEST1A.WAV
TEST2A.WAV
NEWT1A.WAV
