Title: Powering a PSP2 and a Mindprint Seperately (suggestions needed)
Post by: baustin on October 06, 2005, 01:23:53 PM
I haven't hung around this board much, so I'm not that familiar with some of the newer powering options.

I've got an EAA-PSP2 that I've been powering with an old 6v Eco-Charge battery. The PSP2 say 9v max and, from what I understand, can go lower than 6v. I've heard people talking about a Wal-Mart battery that works well with the PSP2. Anybody?

I also just picked up a Mindprint Di-Port. I haven't even had the chance to use it yet. I know its supposed to be an AC powered unit, but wanted to see what other options there are. The specs on the back say 12 VAC /  700mA. Can I power this with a battery?

Thanks in advance!

For the PSP2, a Li-Ion battery should do the trick.  Most here are using the Li-Ion batts marketed for DVD players, a la the "Walmart battery".  They typically come in 7.2v or 9.6v flavors.  Not sure if the 9.6v would prove too much for the PSP2 or not.

To power the Mindprint, you'll need an inverter to change AC > DC.  Sorry, no recommendations on me for inverter options.

I'd email the mindprint guys, they are really good with email.  I bet they'd help you.
