I am slowly, but surely, trying to start to uplaod to bt.etree but i am still not sure of somethings.
Is there any forum I can ask questions on this topic. I've read a bunch of the site doc/faqs.
If this is the correct place? then i want help with norton's and making sure i have a clean access for people to connect.

I've opened ports, turned off the xp sercurity, now in norton's i can't seem to find anywhere to specify the ports i want opened, 6881-6889. do i give the url address? if so many folks, ok maybe some, will attempt to download
do i need to specify there info? or just give the BT page access

once your bittorrent client shows that you're no longer firewalled, you're all set for downloading AND uploading (i.e. there's nothing more to do on your computer to prepare it for uploading torrents)

Do you have a router? What BT client are you using?

router/modem i've contacted the manufacture and they explained to me how to open the ports, which i've done,
it's a 660 series, from sprint (actuall something that begins with Z, but not shownn on hardware)
I was going to use bt.etree for the uploads.
I've saved a show to flac, and am in the process of attempting to upload. as long as i am not trying to dl shows do i just post the show and go off line or how long should i stay online, in other words i understand the sharing of files, but that does include the source of the upload?

I appoligize for some wasted bandwith, i have gone back to BT and reread some facts for uplaoding and i'll try to do it.
For what's it worth I'll give a quick intro to who the hell i am.
Been taping for 8 years, MG210>M148>SBM1(mod)>D8
that's right an oade boy, got most of my info from them or assc/friends
can't afford a harddrive recorder at this time.
Old School, i thought that was analog tapers, not D8.
If you recorded SCI between 98-2001, you probably know me or at least meet me.

still don't understand those tickets, searched the forum page and something to do with karma?
if so who gets to decide the karma, i always thought karma was a given, do something good/bad and have it returned the same.

A BT client is what program you run to upload/download not the bt.etree.org site. The reason I ask is if you use BitTornado it randomizes the port selection by default and you must set the ports you use in your router to be the same in the BitTornado preferences.

I have downlaoded a few things; torrentspy, bt torrent make torrent, flac (to encoed, althoguh i can't tell if the finger print took or not) is this what you're refering too?

what is the prefernce to Archive.com or bt.etree, does it really matter where i upload shows, is one better then the other?

Have you ever downloaded anything? Did you install BitTorrent? If so then you have a BitTorrent program that runs when you're downloading. This is your "BitTorrent client" and it must be configured to use your open ports.

download anything, if you mean music, no. i have boxes of dats that at some point i'd like to share with others
via bt or some shared d/l site. i am obviously just getting familuar with the process. thanks for the help, i do understand what you're asking and saying

it sounds like you have everything you need. If you use etree, just go through the steps to upload a show and then open you bittorrent client and point it to the dir you want to upload. That is pretty much it.

yes learning to download is the first step. seeding is one more step after that but seeding and downloading are essentially the same.
