hello people,
i recently got my hands on a sony d-8 for free,which i understand is a decent machine.but should i consider a microtrack,or hi-md.i was even considering going for a pcm-m1,
which i might be able to get at a reasonable price.ill be recording hard rock shows mostly in stealth.also what settings should i set the rec.levels for a loud hard pumping show?
thanks for any help.

.but should i consider a microtrack,or hi-md.
it the D8 works, keep it and use it until it goes bad.
what settings should i set the rec.levels for a loud hard pumping show?
it depends on the mics and pre-amp that you use.

keep the d8. great machine

im not sure if it works yet,its enroute as we speak.my brother wasnt sure if it still worked but he had no use for it.
what should i consider if it doesn't work?
it depends on the mics and pre-amp that you use.
im really green with this stuff.what mics and pre-amps would be good for any of the mentioned formats?
i really appreciate the help.
many thanks to everyone!

there is a ton of info out there... for stealth mics, you obviously want something small but nice...
the first thing to figure out is how much you can spend on something... then go here...

search for descriptions of mics, anything small is stealthable. ask if you have more questions.
