Title: MT2496 Gain? Extreme Weakness or user error?
Post by: lyle on October 23, 2005, 01:39:25 PM
Went to record my band with the supplied T-mic (1/8" mic input) and could not even get close to pulling the gain down to stop the clipping. How is it possible that the gain can not be lowered for loud sources? I can understand having not enough gain (reason for 27db boost option) but too much gain even when the levels are turned all the way down? My V3, Mini-MP, DMIC-20, AD-20, etc. would not even show a signal if turned all the way down. Whats up with this? Thanks.

from what i gather, 1/8 can't handle live music..gotta go 1/4 in

There is only 12 dB variable analog gain. (from the ADC)
But also 14 dB ever present (?) analog gain.
I'd also wish for a mod to defeat the 14 dB or at least control it.
