Title: Question for km140 > mp-2 > sbm-1 users
Post by: soomlos on November 06, 2005, 12:17:59 PM
For loud rock concerts do you use the -10db setting on the mic bodies?
I've read here that it's better to run the mp-2 at no gain (dials all the way left) and the sbm-1 at least at 6 or 7.
first show I've recorded with this setup was not super loud, kinda medium level and I had the -10db off, the mp-2 all the way down and the sbm-1 at 8.... which was perfect,
So just wondering what to expect at a very loud arena rock show.... any thoughts?
Oh and I shouuld mention that I'm using the tape out on the mp-2...

I havent run the 140's but I used to own a mp-2 and always ran line out (xlr) to rca to the sbm-1.

I think if I ran xlr out I would definitely have to use the -10 setting

I ran KM140>MP2>SBM1 twice (sold the MP2 for a V2), both shows were *very* loud, and neither time had to use the -10db pad.

Definitely run 1/8" out with the MP2 gain all the way down and you should be fine.
