Title: Is it worth getting a home deck?
Post by: super-phat-al on August 08, 2003, 11:53:46 PM
My only worry is that i put too much strain on my d-8.  I use it for everything cause its my only DAT deck.  I am hesitant to get a home deck because i spent so much $ on the Sony POC-12 so i could go optical.  I now that cable is kinda worthless.  And i have a problem with selling stuff.  Its weird dont ask

I have one I use strictly for transfers, and I have been watching for a good deal on one to add to my stereo downstairs...so in a short answer...yes

If you've got the optical cable, just get a home deck with an optical in...I *think* the Fostex has one but I'm not 100% positive on that. Definitely takes a huge amount of strain off your portable deck. Think about it, if you use your portable for transfers, that's twice the hours on half-sized heads! And home decks can be had for dirt-cheap these days compared to what they used to cost. A couple hundred bucks will get you a home deck that can give several THOUSAND hours of use without nary a complaint...
