Title: V3 vs. modded UA5

What would you say would be the improvements, if any, of a V3 over a Oade plus-modded UA5.

Post by: sygdwm on November 18, 2005, 04:48:17 PM: pretty lights. :P seriously, it depends on your budget. some say the tmod sounds similar to a v3. others swear by their w/p mods. its all about what you like to hear from your recordings. that said, the v3 has frickin sweet levels. the ua5 not so much.

IMO, a plus of the mod UA-5's is the ability to run an on-the-fly matrix, and the cost savings.

I just listened to a copy of moe. 10-13-05 from the schoeps>mini me > laptop and compared that to my recording setup right next to the schoeps (mine being Peluso CMC6s> BM2p+ UA-5>JB3) and I think mine sounds a thousand times better. A Mini me is no V3 I have to admit but if my mod sounds that good against the above mentioned rig I would really like to see the comparison to a V3. I hope I run next to a V3 soon so I can put the comparison out there.

yeah, that is def an advantage. if the v3 only had some rca inputs like that :'( it may be the perfect pre/ad
