Title: Microtrack timer countdown...
Post by: Nick Graham on November 27, 2005, 08:01:10 AM
I've followed all the Microtrack threads pretty closely, and don't think I've seen this issue come up yet since the new beta drivers were released...

Everytime I started a new file before installing the new driver, the timer would countdown however much space was left on the card - i.e. a formatted 4 GB card would show 3:56 when beginning a new file @ 24/48....the same time shown in the "Recording Time Available" menu option.

Now it starts at 1:58 @ 24/48 (with 3:56 in "Recording Time Available") and 3:08 @ 16/44.1 (with 6:16 in "Recording Time Available"). So it's obviously counting down from the 2GB file size.

This change shows me they have at least done something in regard to the 2GB file limit, even if for now it's only a countdown timer. I'm almost positive the ability to seamlesly start a new file will be available in the next update...

They talk about this in the release notes for 1.2.0 beta.  Here is what it says:
- Record time available in main screen counts down from the lesser of space available, or 2GB file limit.

I'm going to test mine in the field with the new firmware tonight.

That's what I get for reading everything on ts.com, but NOT the actual release notes.

DOH!

Still not quite exactly perfect:  Last night recording 24/48 SPDIF from the V3 a freshy formatted 8GB card showed 3:56 using the  total recording time available option from the recording menu.  Started the first file for the first set - the countdown started at 1:58.  First set ran about 62 mnutes.  Started the second file for the second set - countdown started at 1:58.  Second set ran about 112 minutes.  Started a third file for the encore - countdown started at 0:55.  The encore ran 20 minutes.  Started a new file this am - the countdown tells me that I have 00:30 left to record.

I'll email m-audio.  It recognized the 8GB San Disk card w/ the previous firmware, now it thinks it is a 4GB card.  Somewhere I lost 10-15 minutes of record time, assuming it was a 4GB card.

On the other hand - it recorded and wrote my third complete show at 24/48 - I'm happy.
