for those looking..
I just picked up a Sony dvp-ns50p($80) DVD player which plays DVD-V format gapless.. the ffwd and rew through tracks, as well as skipping tracks, works just fine.. also has spdif out which I havent used..
burned image with Audio DVD Creator
Burned image DVD-V with Nero on Verbatim DVD+R

does it pass 96k?
-
havent tried it yet.. test disk is the shockenaw first set v3 (2448) > microtracker..
I will have to burn one of your OE shows at 2496 to see.. tonight's work ;D

does it pass 96k?
ok.. sooner than I thought.. burned 2496 image in Audio DVD Creator of the 5 15 OE show.. then burned in Nero to DVD+R..
plays gapless with ffwd rew capablilities.. :headphones:
I dont know if it will pass 2496 via spdif though.. I dont think I have a way to test it either..
edit: btw.. that 5/15/05 recording sounds like ass.. :P

maybe try to send a 24/96 s/pdif signal to the microtracker and see what happens. If it accepts the signal, then it downsamples...

Mark and I just tested the spdif output on this unit to the MT2496 set to "spdif" while playing a 2496 dvd-v disk..
The file, after about four minutes of recording, was checked and it read to be a 24/48 file.. So I guess it either downsampled spdif out, or the 2496 is whacked..
I'm with the downsampling scenerio. Thanks for hipping me to check this out..

Obviously the 96k pass-thru is only important if using as a transport with a DAC. What else are you running for playback?

analog out to a receiver. older(1997?) Technics sa ax610 (no digi in) running two channels... klipsh b3 - cambridge passive subs in office(12x12aprx)..
hmm
If I were to feed digi out with a 2448 dvd-v to one of those (lets say) sony strda 2100 digi in, it wouldnt be downsampled? but a 2496 disk will be downsampled to 2448 by the dvd player?

Probably. If its important, you could run a simple test to verify.
