I just set up a pair of AKG C1000 Mics with a Sony MZ-N510 MD Recorder. I'm not getting much boost from the mics into the MD Player ever when I mannually adjust the input levels. I'd appreciate any help.

I ran c1000s with a D7 straight into the line imput. Between the mics and the recorder you need to add line tranformers that boost the signal. Hosa makes a couple:
MIT-176 Mic Transformer, XLR Female LO-Z to 1/4" Male HI-Z, "Pigtail"
MIT-435 Mic Transformer, XLR Female LO-Z to 1/4" Male HI-Z
I used some audio technicas Cp8201 Same basic thing though. You'll need a 1/4" female x2 -> Stereo 1/8" cable which isn't the easiest to find, but easy to make. Hope this helps

....if you need help w/ this, i think i have one of these stashed away somewhere w/ a 1/4" (f) -> 1/8" (m) adapter i could send your way.
