Post by: Pokey1 on December 13, 2005, 05:12:14 PM
Hello, My wife bought me the Micro Track for Christmas. It sit's under the tree.I would like to here from people that have the MT and use it to record live proformances/Live Music. That is what I want to use it for. I'm a musician (DRUMMER). I play out often. Please be kind. But be honest. I can't give it back. I can't believe that it's a piece of junk. Tell me something good about it. Quality of recordings using the mic that comes with it. I can up grade the mic. Suggestions are welcome. I bought a 1gig flash. How much time will I be able to record on that. Thanks

even more, but scattered info on the recording devices discussion board.

many are using this thing to record concerts.  I would opt for a larger CF card than a 1 GB one.

You just better hope she doesn't notice your re-wrapping job.

How well the mt works depends on what you need it to do and what your expectations are. It is a good gift that should get even better as they fix the bugs.

Sigh...

Considering the huge volume of dumbass questions that YOU ASKED before you actually taped your first show - I'd think you (of all people) would have a little more PATIENCE...

Yer Bud...

Pokey1,

The Microtrack is a great little recorder. It has some minor problems, but many of them have been fixed already and M-Audio is a very responsive company. I used mine to record my son's Ska band with the included mic, and it turned out great. The only issue is that it is easy to overload it with the supplied mic and very loud music. I've used it a number of times, and never had any problems. One of the reasons for that is that I read everything I could about it and was able to avoid some of the problems mentioned by upgrading the firmware from the M-Audio website.

If you want really high quality recordings, then you would want to get some different mics, and an external preamp. You can hear a recording of a high school jazz band that I did with it in this thread. http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=55810.0

What type of music do you want to record?
