Title: Seamless playback with 24/96 files on DVD+R discs?
Post by: cshepherd on December 23, 2005, 03:03:02 PM
Hi,
This is my first post around here.  I recently got back into taping and want to know if 24/96 files will play seamlessly on DVD+R discs (or any other type for that matter)?  I haven't been able to find much information on this subject.  A friend of mine worked with Discwelder for a while but the track junctions still produced a small (~.5 sec.) gap between tracks.  Can someone shed some light?

This is a sweet site.  I can't believe there's a gear loaner forum.  What a great idea.

Thanks,
Chris

what kind of dvd player were using? some cant play seamless for one reason or other. i use a pioneer 563-a (theres an elite model thats real good too). i author all my dvd-a's with wavelab5 and get no gaps. there are several threads in the comp record section and the archive. good luck.

I have burned countless DVD-Audio discs onto DVD+R (and DVD-R), using both discwelder bronze, and Scott Brown's free windows GUI (DVD-Audiofile) to create DVD-Audio discs.  everything plays seamlessly on my Denon 2200.  As mentioned above, it's probably an issue with your player, not the software nor the DVD media.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm using a Cambridge Audio 540-D DVD player.  I haven't tried authoring straight out of Samplitude yet, but I will go ahead with that first before giving up on my player.  It sounds like my friend's transfer process may not be right.  Thanks for the advice.

Eugene is still the giant bubble that it's always been...  The Hi-Fi business is home based.  We don't have a retail space.  It's a hobby/addiction my brother and I have a lot of fun with, but I don't think a retail space is ever going to be in our future.  We used to own a CD store back in the 90's, but I'm sure we can all fill in the blanks about what happened there.   ;D

We've got some demo mic cables from Van den Hul (a wire company based in Holland) that we're going to put in the gear loaner program soon.  VdH has been innovating the use of carbon fibres in interconnects and speaker cables.  I know there's a lot of BS in the audiophile cable community, but VdH cables bring it in spades.  We think they need to be in the taper community.  Beyond that, we just want to see people getting into good sound.  I'll try to keep Eugene Hi-Fi fluffing to a minimum around here.  Thanks again for everyone's help.

Cheers,
Chris

For those who don't know, Chris (and his brother Dale) are damn near legends in the ABB/Mule/Derek Trucks trading circles.

If you've got any '99 DTB that's especially tasty, good chance it was Chris' KM184>V2>DAP1 rig.

Nick, thanks for the kind words.  It's nice to know those old tapes are still appreciated.  I must have seen Derek play 25-30 times in 1999 between the DTB and ABB.

Appreciated?  Heck I listen to those shows on a regular basis!  The DTB bender you guys went on in 1999 and 2000 is a great archive of the band in a wonderful era.  Great to see you on the TapersSection and to hear you and Dale are pulling tapes again.  I'm grabbing your Kimock show from bt.etree.org right now.

Welcome Chris,  media shouldn't matter, DVD-+R/RW it's all good.  I also highly recomend scott brown's program for creating DVD-A's http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=52892.0 (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=52892.0) just drag and drop either .wav or flacs into the window and go! It does not put in any gaps and it doesn't get any easier.  Enjoy

Phil,
Thanks so much for the tip.  I'd T+ ya if I could.  I'll download Scott's program and check it out tonight.
