Originally written up for Bogen stands, but applies to others as well. Not sure what tip is on your stand since I didn't see an image associated with your post.
Apparently some Bogen stands have a 1/4" male threaded tip and others have a 5/8" stud tip. Depending on which you have, you'll need different adapters to get to the standard mic/shockmount 5/8" male thread tip.
If you have the 1/4" male thread tip, the adapters you want to get to the 5/8" male threaded tip are:
Model | Starting Thread | Ending Thread
3111 | 1/4"F | 3/8"M
(new part # for above: 148, per Bogen parts at 201-818-9500, 10/10/2003 - thanks jlykos!)
3366 | 3/8"F | 5/8"M
If you have the 5/8" male stud tip, the adapters you want to get to the 5/8" male threaded tip are:
Model | Starting Thread | Ending Thread
3102 | 5/8" F stud | 3/8" M thread
3366 | 3/8"F | 5/8"M
MIBA | 3/8"F | 5/8"M (seems this is the new Bogen model #)

If you have the end with a removable brass stud, remove the stud and get an atlas quick release adapter. Put the male part of the adapter on a clamp that you can use later and you will find that the female part of the atlas adapter will perfectly slide into the stud socket on the end of the light stand. See the pictures of the DPA mount here: http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=55935.0
You can leave the atlas female part permanantly attached to the mic mount and you can very quickly move between clamp and stand depending on your situation. I've found it really helpful when I had to resort to handholding during a show.

as luck would have it..I forgot to post the picture of the stand.
you guys must have been like "wft, nick doesn' know how to mount mic gear on a lighting stand? i thought this guy was hip?"
I have an atlas quick release....so I just need to get the top piece to mount it on.
which, btw. Micsupply does not carry. Nor have I seen anything jump out at me at b&h.
the top of my stand, if not shown in the picture, is just a hollow opening (like and upside down T). Its 5/8" I believe, but just a hole. I need to find a piece that will go inside and be locked in place by the screw key. this piece needs to then top out w/any of the normal threaded sizes (any will do). that piece (the brass stud), is what I can't find.

The top of the atlas connector won't just slide into that chuck at the end of the stand?
-
it will if I take it apart. the bottom part (that would screw on the stand) is too fat. the top part will fit in, and that works.
but i'd like to find an "official" part. :)

i was thinking along that line, but i'm not sure its long enough.

They make a stud that looks like the top of the regular light stand, but double ended with 1/4" on one end and 3/8" on the other. It's at least an inch long and will probably fit in the hole on top of that stand.
I can't come up with a part # for you, but I know I've seen it at hunts and b&h.

That last pic is the one I was talking about.
Thanks for coming up with the pic and part # DarkStarJedi.

Looks like the top of my stand.
I have one of these:

that I've superglued an adapter onto. Works perfect. I'll attach a crappy pic.

Yeah, I was talking about just sliding the top part of the atlas into the chuck. That has worked really well for me. Then put the bottom part of the atlas on a clamp and then you can quick attach to the clamp. For me the main thing has been to try and eliminate the assorted adapters that have to be fit to pull it all together.

the hard part will be to see if it fits in the chuck. I could see the fat part of the stud not fitting, and then the key bolt will make it cock-eyed when I tighten it (similar experience w/a different part I had on hand).
thanks all...

i just bought a 6" rod with 5/8" thread on both ends. one end slides into the top of stand and screws tight. the other end holds the akg t-bar w/ a 5/8 thread. i bought it at my local musicians workshop for $8.00. it appears yo work perfect as long as the top hole of your stand will hold a 5/8" rod. i just bought this today, and it was easier to find than i thought. good luck. sorry i don't have a picture for you.

If the hole at the top is 5/8, go buy a cheapie mic clip at Radio Shack. Some of them come with a 5/8 threaded piece in the bottom of the clip that's completely removeable. I have one sitting on my desk right now as a matter of fact. Let me know if you want it. It's just a 5/8 threaded tube, about 2-3 inches long.

that sounds like just what I need.
I'm set w/the parts I have on hand, and I will try to find "said rod"
:)
thanks all.
we can consider this one cooked.
