wow... never even considered Nyquist on playback... good article.

wonder how much it relates to "real world" recordings... i can see it coming into play when there's a single instrument...  but how about multi-instruments with all the harmonics produced???

dammit Teddy... now another thing to worry about  ;D  'cause clipping "not do a speaker good" :(

Does this issue just concern the DAC chip or also the opamps after the DAC?

And/or: Does the Analog Devices AD1852 suffer from this problem if it is a DAC-only issue?

I always thought that speakers were only harmed by clipping the amp output, not reproducing clipping w/in the amps power range.  Can anyone provide further info?

Clipping looks like DC which may not be so good for speakers?

A clipping amp outputs square waves which is not good for speakers.  But I don't know that an amp that is not clipping, but is reproducing clipping from somewhere upstream, is outputting square waves or otherwise possibly damaging speakers (assuming reasonable volume).  But I'm no expert.  Perhaps someone else here is.
