So i've been having problems grabbing a set of AKG 460's to run with the active cables and ck1x cables, so I got to thinking, what else could I do. I kinda figured out, using poorlyconditioned's example of running ck91's without bodies that these too could be run with either a 3 wire battery box OR the AT8533 phantom adapters. Now my question is, could I run them with a sonosax sx/m2 with lemo connections that is run for schoeps kcy's and neumanns without bodies?

Good question. Sonosax lists the Blue Lines but not the 460 in their original manual. The english translation isn't too bad except that they messed up the example list of mics. It should be Schoeps Colette series, AKG Blue Line, Sanken Cos 11, or the entire Neumann KM100 system.
The original French from Sonosax.com:
Le SX-M2/LS peut être utilisé pour tous les microphones condensateur ou electret ayant la possibilité d'interchanger la capsule, par exemple: La série Colette de Schoeps, Blue Line de AKG, Sanken Cos 11 ou encore le système KM100 de Neumann.
And their English translation:
The SX-M2/LS can be used for all condenser or electret microphones having the possibility of changing the capsules on the microphone body, such as: Colette series of Schoeps, Blue Line of Sanken, or the similar line of Neumann.

Good point, i based my logic on the fact that the CK91 is the same structure as a CK1x with the FET in the capsule I believe. I would like to get clarification from AKG that it would work but I see no reason why not. I understand why the CK1x isn't listed, its not even listed on AKG's own site as an old product. They have no mention of it or the ck2x or 3x. Its not a mainstream mic. I eventually want to grab a used set of schoeps to run into a lemosax much like you are doing now, but until I can find a used pair this would be the most logical thing and I think it would sound quite nice.

Good luck getting any info from AKG, Sanjay. I was going to buy these caps & cables from Goose until I had a couple phone conversations with AKG tech support. Basically, all they would tell me was that AKG did make the ck_x series caps & MK46 cables, they don't anymore, they won't provide any service on them, and they don't have any schematics or product data that they could send me.
I think it would be awesome if you could figure out how to pull it off with out the bodies, fwiw. Good luck +T

thanks, yeah i am sure they are going to be difficult but if I sent them a diagram i'm sure it wouldn't be hard to figure out a pinout. I am just getting annoyed with looking for 460 bodies. This would be like running schoeps kcy or neumann ak40 > lc3 > sax. Super stealth. If this fails and I don't get a good deal on bodies soon i'm just going to get schoeps, i have so much invested in this akg crap that I can't even use for sure.
In any event i'm sending broken and some working pieces to richard and he's going to see what he can do to fool around, get pinouts, fix, whatever so he can develop actives for the ck61 series.

+T for your troubles. Who's Richard?

sorry poorlyconditioned.
I'm not too mad about the troubles, most interesting combinations before they are assured they can work are trouble. about it if I can get it to work, i love the AKG sound and that setup would be heaven and allow me to consolidate my gear.

I have a feeling that something like that may be forthcoming this year from one of our resident engineers. :o

so...it can run the AKG ck9x's without the bodies? I guess one could replace the BlueLine attachment (for the body) with a Lemo connector...very interesting...
-
Yup - that seems to be the case. I suspect that their confidence that "all" active systems will work has to do with the typical voltage requirements, and the fact that there's a FET either in the capsule or at the capsule end of the active cable.
With that in mind, I'm curious how hard it would be to use my existing modded KC5 cables to power the capsules from a basic (though perhaps custom) battery box - something more the size that I could fit in my front pocket like the Core Sound batt box.

ummm...what does the sonosax sx-m2/ls do that the MP-2 does not (aside from lemo connectors)...is it possible to run the appoved caps listed with the sonosax with the MP-2?

No, not without stepping down the voltage which is what teh sonosax does. It has the mic "bodies" inside it, hence it provides 48 phantom to the bodies inside the box, and outputs the appropriate amt for the capsule. Similar to what an AT8533 phantom module does.
