I have a sony ecm-719 and was wondering if the battery that goes in the back of it would be powerful enough without a battery box,or will a bb still be needed.Ive had the mic for a while but havent really used it and just wanted to try it out at a gig i have in a couple of weeks.Any ideas, suggestions welcome.

I use the ECM-717 without a battery box. and it works fine. I have not changed the battery since I got it. (I purchased it back in 2003) and it still powers out what the mic needs. you don't need a BB.

I used ecm-719 with just the battery in the back < jb3 and there is a lot of "extra noise" on the recording...
A battery box would most likely eliminate it...
I would recommend the battery box, thats what I am looking to do myself, as this distortion/static is noticable and pissed me off, but I am also getting rid of the ecm-719, it has just been a qwik fix, it is not very good quality at all to my ears...
just my opinion...
