Here's an inexpensive one that is supposed to do SPDIF:

elite 45a does 24/96 over spdif of non commercial releases (ie burned 24/96 discs)...I dont think there are many (if any) players that do commercially released dvd-a or sacd over digi connections

I have the Pioneer 578A and it definitely outputs 24/96 via spdif. You have to go into a menu to turn the downsampling off, and then it will output the 96kHz signal What I need is a player that does not downsample (to 24/48) copy-protected DVD-A via spdif. I don't think it exists, but I hope I'm wrong.

It appears the Oppo DV971H ($199) will output 24/96.  Not sure about copy-protected DVDA's.  I was reading the threads on this player on www.avsforum.com and came across a few posts that referenced a menu setting to output 48 or 96k.  Also read this player has issues with some DualDisc titles - but that seems common amoung the low cost universals.
