Title: best hd recording set up?
Post by: kidrocklive on January 31, 2006, 01:18:19 AM
my friend is planning on getting into taping and she wnats to get one of those HD recorders so she doesn't have to switch discs but she would like to get something smaller than the Nomad thing. That's the only one I know of, is there anything smaller than that, that she could use? Also what would be the most ideal mic set up? She's planning on recording a show from the 2nd row, so idk if that affects the type of mics you'd wnat or what bass roll off to get. any and all help is appricated.

kind of vague, my friend.

the smallest "hard drive" based recorder is still the nomad.
and she's always going to be in the 2nd row..thats nice.  maybe some dpa4061's w/the dpa preamp will do the trick.
small, portable, easily hidden.
about a grand in total, if you find everything used.

I recommend having your friend stop in here at TS, starting here:

By the way, the title here is a bit deceptive. Best HD setup does not always equate to smallest, or most expensive, or ...

Anyhow, I would also do a search on the threads regarding the MicroTracker.
