Hello all.....
Once again I'm trying to figure out the DAT>Laptop, and I always seem to get atleast one pop. I know the UA-1D isn't bit perfect, but I also believe, since another taper uses the usb output on his taping attempts always, the usb should be able to work since he records to laptop always. I do want to get the firewire soundcard but will not be able to happen for a month or two.
After all this said, I seem to need to find a site that will list the settings that need to be placed on my laptop when using msconfig. I have all startup options disabled and all the firewall and internet settings disabled also.
I have the Dell Inspiron 6000. On System Configuration Utility (msconfig @ run) Startup the only thing checked is NEWDOT~2. On Services I have everything checked except Error Reporting Service, Help and Support, Network Connections, Network Location Awareness (NLA), System Event Notification, Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), Print Spooler, Performance Logs and Alerts, Dell Wireless WLAN Tray Service, Security Center, Automatic Updates, & Wireless Zero Configuration.
I just unchecked all the items I believed wouldn't corrupt the acting of the computers system. I've been searching with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can try this link
http://www.musicxp.net/ (http://www.musicxp.net/)
not sure if it will help or not. what I would suggest is as you have done get it off line, no firewall, virus stuff running etc. also no screen saver. also hit control alt delete and shut down any process you don't need running.

Gordon,
Thanks for your help. I run ctrl+alt+delete and there isn't much running but system idle process, taskmgr.exe, and coolpro2.exe. The CPU usage fluctuates from 0% -> 4%. I will let you know in the morning whether or not it is a successful attempt. Take care.
