Title: cheapest bit-perfect sound card?
Post by: MattD on August 21, 2003, 04:33:22 PM
Must be capable of 24/96 playback in Windows. If it's Mac-compatible too, that's a plus.

And yes, I searched the archives before posting this, so it hasn't been listed as such.

If you can link me to a specific retailer, thanks in advance.

MY ua-1D is junk too, just not bit perfect and because of it, it has very small pops and clicks in random places.... :P

wouldnt that be caused by an imperfect soundcard issue???? ???

Nothing by Edirol is bit-perfect, unfortunately, by their own admission...never seen the UA-3 specifically but I'm assuming it's part of the line?

I use the Cobra card, its great and works under XP for me, but its not 24bit. I think the cheapest 24 bit card is the one made by M-Audio ( I forget its name). But its only 24/48. You can get them on e-bay for around $150

The card I was talking about is the Audiophile 2496.  So it is capable of the bit rates that you want. I havnet done any testing with it, but I have heard that it is bit perfect.
