I have been on the list for about a year, but this is my first post. I am looking to move into the compact flash recorder world, and am looking at the Tascam HD-P2, although the marantz 671 is a possible canidate, but I am leaning more towards the HD-P2. My main interest is in getting a DA-P1 or Portadat / TCD-D10II size deck, but with 48v phantom power for certain taping situations. I have attempted to get a DA-P1 on ebay, but all of the auctions go for way too much money for basically an obsolete technology.
Does anyone on the list have some recent experience with the HD-P2 that they could share? I am looking to use the recorder with the built-in A/D, and in some cases will use the built-in mic pre's (for C4'), and in other cases will use a MMA6000 into the deck. I don't have any interest at this time in getting an external A/D, and prefer something more like an all in one box.
Also, will the Portabrace bag for the DA-P1 fit the HD-P2? I have looked at the owners manual for both, and the dimensions look really close (within a couple of mm), so I think it would work but would appreciate feedback from someone who has used the HD-P2 with the portabrace bag.
Thanks for your help!
Tom.

i do not have the portabrace bag but i have seen one in it and it will work just fine, I have not tried mine without an external pre but i will be in about 5 days so i will let you know if there is anything unusually wrong with the experience

Thanks for the input. I will be curious to hear how it went using the built-in mic pre's of the HD-P2.
Thanks again,
Tom.
