OK I want a Nova bag. I like the top open design. What's the largest one? I want more space not less. What is the one that most people use on here. The 3 or 5? Could I see some pics with gear... they seem to small for me.
Looking to hold the R-4. (It is ok to run these vertically right?) Maybe I should figure that one out first. lol And maybe a v2, mics., cables, etc. I currently run a backpack with a rack where everything sits horizontally....but thinking I like the vertical since I'm moving away from laptop. Thanks for any input!

Mark, I think that the 5 might be the biggest of the Nova series. Don't discount the Tamrac Pro camera bags either. I think that some of those are larger then the Nova's and still have the open top design. If scratch isn't an issue go get a huge Portabrace. Good luck.

check out the magnum - i belive its bigger than the nova 5 and should be fairly similar to the design of the nova series

I used to work at a camera store. We stocked F.64 bags that were freakin' huge. Something similar to: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7592426569

Maybe that gives you an idea of how big a Nova 5 is. Easily holds a UA-5, two lion batts, MT, shock mounts, Juicebox voltage regulator and other stuff. I do have very little room for my XLR cables, though (just place them on top of the gear while in transit) and, until I get new mics, the C1000S are too huge for any bag. I NEED SMALLER MICS.

FWIW, I had a pair of C1000s, D8, SBM-1, PS2, t-bar, 6v SLA plus cables all in a nova 4. It was tight, but it was doable. The key was the case for the C1000s, I had 2 of them in an old style case. The other one stayed at home.

Diddo. I upgraded to the Magnum from the Nova 5 & love it. There's another one that's bigger than the Magnum called the Commercial, I think.
Pics of my Magnum (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=58081.0) :yack:

I just moved from the Nova 5 (which I loved) to the Comercial AW.. the thing is big, but not too big, as it can still be a carry-on on flights, etc.. I'm holding a pair of TL's, V3, Ecocharge EC-90 and soon a Tascam HD-P2, plus clamps, cables, etc.. so I needed a little more room, otherwise I would have stayed with the Nova 5. There is PLENTY of room in this bag...
