I haven't tried this, but I'm taping a PMB show tonight and thought I might give it a whirl. I like the 722 pre just fine, but I always liked the mbho > mp2 combo, and I have this sucker just taking up space, why not? Anyone have any strong feelings about this?
Thanks!

If you're interested here are some links (the 24 bit Sixer's set will finish uploading tomorrow probably):

Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers @ 16 bit - http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=34500
For these two sets I started with the mp2 as the pre, then at about the half way point took it out of the chain. There are notes in the text files as to when I took it out. I tried to keep the levels similar, but that was hard. When the mp2 was in, I kept the 722's line in level at -2 for all of the sets, and the mp2 was anywhere between 8 and 10 o'clock on the dials. When it was just the 722, the levels were between 40 and 50. There was also an opener (Amy Cooper) who I did the same for, but she's not on the archive, so the FLACs are sitting on my hard drive.
I'll retitle the thread so that it makes more sense now. I haven't given them a good listen yet to hear the differences, but what do you think? Thanks,

SD - should have noted that.

The sixers were on for 45 minutes or so I think. And PMB was about an hour and half. Both sets were pretty good, but the PMB set started really slowly...

I think it sounds better without the trusty MP-2; less muddy sounding and clearer. I'm listening on PC speakers, fwiw.
