Title: Bumblebee MiAGi-II Silver Clad
Post by: hoyt on March 11, 2006, 10:13:39 PM
So now that leegeddy isn't selling these, anyone know where he got the bulk cable?  I'd like to make a few 25' runs but searching on MiAGi-II on google lead me to nothing.  Who's the maker of the cable itself?  Thanks!

Not sure who made the cable leegeddy used as there are numerous folks who make silver-plated copper wire with teflon jacket to military specification. Try this google search for some more info: http://www.google.com/search?as_q=%22mil+spec%22+%22silver-plated+copper+wire%22+teflon+jacket&num=50&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=lang_en&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&as_rights=&safe=images

I purchased some mil-spec spc on ebay from patcherssupplyinoregon. Paid about $30 for 120 feet of 22 or 24 AWG multistrand 2conductor shielded cable. Looks to be very similar if not identical to what leegeddy used. I have a pair of BumbleBees and a couple of pairs I fabricated from PSio's cable and I can't hear any difference between them. Not listing any of that particular wire at the moment but keep checking as his inventory changes regularly. http://stores.ebay.com/PATCHER-SUPPLY

Also do a search here. Recently there were a few posts with links to what all the various military specs were.

Nice, thanks for the info +t to you.

So, I had been looking at 2 or 4 conductor cabling, but I see Nick went with a 3 conductor cable in one of those links.  What's the use of that?  Do you just ignore one of the 3 conductors?  Thanks!

Nice Rosetta stone... found in the Knowledgebase archive

http://www.montarbo.com/pdf/connettori.pdf (http://www.montarbo.com/pdf/connettori.pdf)

Right, got all that stuff down, but all the cables that I have used for mics have been 2 or 4 conductor cables.  So the sheild was used on pin 1, and the other 2 coductors were on 2 & 3, or if it was 4, I soldered two to each of 2 & 3.  But in the 3 conductor case, there are the 3 wires, plus the shield.  What do you do with the shield or the one of the other 3?
