Title: DIY question: Suggestions for UA5 replacement opamp on line input?
Post by: poorlyconditioned on March 14, 2006, 12:37:38 AM
Does anyone have suggestions for a replacement opamp on the line input of the UA5?  I was looking at AD8620, but that is pretty expensive ($13 at digikey).  Any cheaper options (or sources)?

Also has anyone tried to get both optical *and* coax working on this thing?  I'm thinking of using the coax out to clock a DMIC20 I just bought.  The idea is to have SBD go into the UA5 and AUD/MICS go into the DMIC20, and run two NJB3's at the same time.  (I'm currently modifying the DMIC20 to output optical.)

Thanks,
  Richard

13 dollars doesnt sound like a lot...what would "cheap" be?

Nice idea on the clocks though - does that accomplish the same syncing that the BNC I/Os do?

my t+ mod ua5 passes a digital out to the optical and coax simultaneously -- came that way from doug.  Is this not typical?

my DIY digimod passes optical and coax signals simultaniously, i used to leave a coax atached for digi patchers

edit: SP, and how are you liking your "poorly" mods so far

mines a diy D-mod.  Passes coax and optical at the same time.

the ua-5 will pass signal to coax and optical output simultaneously, it is the input that has to be controlled via switch. great idea for a mod, I'd love to see what happens.
