Title: Sony D8 - Line In vs Mic In
Post by: Javit on March 15, 2006, 10:06:43 PM
Any opinions on either?  I'll be using it for both soundboard patching and stealth taping as it will be my first up with a D8, I'm just wondering.

sbd use line in, always use line in EXCEPT if you are running your mics straight into your d8

Your best bet to avoid overloading/brickwalling the mic-pre is to always use the line inputs no matter if your recording off a board or plugging mics directly into the deck - unless you can't get a strong enough signal from your mics, then switch to the mic-pre input.

line in, accidentally did mic in on a sbd patch once, end result was very noisy to say the least
