Title: suggestions for mic config
Post by: jeromejello on March 16, 2006, 12:53:08 PM
i usually just run my mics ORTF... and i mainly use Cards.  Tomorrow i am going to tape some bluegrass in a bad room... i thought i would try out the ck63s for this.

couple of questions:
* would the hypers still be an acceptable to record bluegrass? or should i stick with cards.

* if i go with the hypers, I belive i will need to use a different config... i was thinking DINa (90*, 17cm).  is there a better choice to run with the 463's?

so.. what does the collective of ts think... especially interested in 463 users opinions, but all comments are welcome.... thanks!

I usually run the 63s DINA and am almost always pleased. I would run them in this situation if I were you.

As much as I LOVE the 63's I would tell you for this particular type of music to run the 61's.

Alot also depends on wheter or not its an electric show or an acoustic show.  Can you run onstage?

Typically for acoustic bluegrass I will run the cards x-y and am usually fairly close to the stage.  For electric I run either DIN or DINa and usually find myself further back from the stage.
