I recently purchased this stand http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7588993059 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7588993059) and the ad states the stand has a 5/8" thread. i figured this would work with my shure stereo bar seeing that it has a 5/8" thread. well, the shure bar arrived today and i go to screw it onto the stand and it doesn't work. what am i doing wrong here? thanks for any help!!!

you need an adapter for those dynatran stands. i believe that there is a 5/8" stud, and some of them have a 1/4" threading on top. check micsupply.com > "Stand fitting w/ 3/8>5/8 adapter" (866) 894-3721
or if that doesn't seem right and you think the stand has the proper threading maybe snap a couple photos of the top of the stand and the shure bar

Tim...would the stand fitting with 3/8>5/8 from http://www.micsupply.com/standaccessories.htm (http://www.micsupply.com/standaccessories.htm) be the same as the B&H gear? thanks so much.

it is indeed. I was just about to post the link to that page, actually. Dave @ micsupply is a super-nice guy and you'd be supporting a fellow taper and his price looks to be cheaper taboot. :D
EDIT: BTW, welcome to ts.com. +T ( http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=2298.0 )
