Howdy folks, I am using SP's AT853s in the mic mounts on a T bar. See below for the short 2 mount (7.5") model on the T bar, mine has 4 mounts and is 14.5" length (2nd picture) ;D
Should I just stick with PAS (point at the stacks) or try to use them in any of the standard LD (large diaphram) configurations? I have the cardioid, hypers and the subcard elements. I am using phantom power so I should be able to handle a little bass with the subcards.
I have had pretty good results with a modified NOS/PAS setup with the T bar using the outside mounts on the 14" bar but was thinking the inside mounts might give better results for the cards and hypers due to horizontal spacing. I am going to try the inner mounts at the Derek Trucks shows coming up in SC in April. Will be interesting to hear any difference between the spacings.
I have not found any config references for small diaphragm mics, just wondering if the setup is basically the same. ???
I was wanting to experiment with a setup the Oade Bros recommend for outside with my subcards at the Wanee in April.

Any suggestions or links are appreciated.

with my at853's i use the plastic mount that comes with them on my DIY vert bar and set it for ORTF. i really really like the sound that i get with that config.

I use this and bend it into the config I want (ortf, din, xy):

yea, i used to use a diy bar and would just raise/lower the stand to point at the stack in a din config, but i just bought a 24" flex bar. haven't used it yet, but needed it last weekend.
how do your 853s attach at the end of the flex bar? I cant really tell by the pic

the windscreens have holes in the back where you put the mics. it's a simple, yet effective design. +T's all around for the flex bar!
