after 9 years on the same computer i finally upgraded to a dell m140 xps laptop. as far as things i will want to get ie better soundcard, any mods to aid me in taping. i may use this laptop to do some recording, but mainly for transfering info at festivals and simple convenience of the laptop. any suggestions

The vx pocket soundcards from Digigram always worked great for me when I was taping with a laptop. I'd ditch the cable that comes with them though in favor of one of these http://www.customconnects.com/ Battery life may be an issue too if recording in the field.
