Title: Another new toy!
Post by: carlbeck on March 27, 2006, 10:41:16 PM
Oh yea, now I am getting excited. I just brought my latest toy home. A very nice all original example of the Thorens TD-160 turntable circa 1974. This is a very nice original example with the original dustcover & cartridge! The table is in very nice condition & was just completely gone through including a new belt. It is such a shame because you can trick these things out so much but I would hate to "ruin" such an original piece. Check out the pics & the website below for a bunch of Thorens tweaks & examples.

Can't wait until the tube phono stage & new silver IC's get here this week  8)

Looks alot like my AR turntable. It's an XA model, but I'm not sure of the year (late 60's-early 70's) It used to be my dad's. I've got that and his AR 3A loudspeakers, but neither get any use.

Along with the Marantz MR1150 amp/tuner, I've got a nice vintage rig.

Welcome to team Thorens. I still have both of mine, a TD150MkIIAB with the stock Thorens arm and a TD125 with an SME 3009 arm. Still use them both and still love listening to vinyl. Nothing matches the imaging of vinyl and a correctly setup table. Only thing I'm considering is new cartridges forone or both, but have other items in the budget that take precedence at the moment.

Jason you NEED to fire up that AR turntable, it is a quality piece. I would have bought that in a second from you if I knew you had it. Check this place out, he is a great guy & local (to me)

That turntable is too sweet to sell. I cracked the corner of the lid when I was a kid and it kills me now because the thing is 100% mint otherwise. I've often wondered what it would sell for, but never looked for fear I'd be tempted to sell.

All I have left on vinyl is Kiss Alive II and the 4 solo albums.

Vinyl is cheap, it's about $1.00 record private sale & easy to find. I just picked up 110 albums, many double albums for $100.00 & there are 66 that I would have paid full price for.

i can't waint to bring my MINT 80's death metal albums over Carl.

"Hell Awaits" should be awesome.
so should Destructions "Eternal Devistation", my all time favorite.

some old Metalica as well.  Mmmmm...should be fun.

no bass, but lots of marshall stack action and crunchy guitars.
I think I also have Exodus "bonded by blood" as well as the one after w/the canible.
