Title: SP Battery Box vs Sanjay Battery Box - 5db net loss
Post by: scoper on April 02, 2006, 01:53:53 PM
I knew there would be a loss in gain when using the new "Sanjay" box vs my old Soundpro battery box, so I ran a quick test, using the 1/8" input on the MT at "M" sensitivity. Mics were 1" from the speaker, volume was not changed on either the MT or the stereo between segments. Levels on the SP box were at maximum, which still provides some slight attenuation. Stereo was set at a very modest volume, so as not to disturb other family members.

The net loss is about 5db, which is less than I expected. Here are the respective analyses from Adobe Audition

Nice work and +T.  That sounds reasonable, about -6 to -10dB loss.  But a lot nicer sound, and tolerant to loud volumes.  So, if you're at very quiet shows, run the SP batt box I guess.  Otherwise use the 3-wire one.
