I want more options than my big Pelican 1540 case. What size Portabrace do "most" folks use?
I want to be as small as possible, not stealth, but just one bag. It needs to hold:
- V-3
- Microtrack
- Maybe a P-1
- Batteries
- small interconnects
- maybe shockmounts (AT's)
and a few odds and ends (tape, etc..). I can carry cables and stand. For most larger gigs I bring my Pelican and backpack with every cable imaginable, but just don't want the hassle of such a large setup.

Don't be shy now...

I used the portabrace AR-7 with the Option of adding the RM-Deluxe(comes with a RM-Multi)...PLENTY of room for everything.

why a portabrace? plenty of backpacks and other solutions out there. Think the Lowe Pro Nova V. Also, think the Crumpler bags.

I'm not specifically hung up on Portabrace, but very much like the design and fit. The Crumpler bags look nice, but I can't find a picture of the inside. I'm looking for bag opposed to a back pack.

i own other bags too, but for sheer durability, nothing ive used tops the PB. You could drag the PB through the 7 layers and inner sanctum of hell, visit the upside down devil in his ice tomb, and come back again with nary a scratch.

how is the padding on the PB bags? I've never handled one but they always look like they have little padding to me.

A loaner deva? Must be rough Teddy! I don't think I'll be making the hell trip, but durability and size is why the PB brand is first in line. Just don't have a shop handy to see them in person for size.

go to the website...and then get the number and call, ask for Ken. He will square you away.

I use the AR-7 as well. It's just the right size for everything you need for one night taping.
-
...well almost everything! :suds:
-
Also, just walk in to your local camera shop...there are all kinds of option there.

I agree on just calling Ken. He's very helpful and they can sell you pieces that you can't get from a dealer. For example, I wanted just a DAP1 pocket to attach to my ar-7/rm-multi combo that I got from Frank, so I'd have a spot for my m148 or m248. You can't get a dap1 pocket from a dealer w/out it coming with a strap and a rm-multi, but Ken sold me just what I needed as a "custom" order.
