Title: cassette>722 transfers
Post by: ts on April 05, 2006, 09:31:20 AM
Anyone do this? How's it work? I'll use either my D5 or Nak deck. I transfered all this stuff years ago to CDR but didn't do a real good job. Crossing my fingers and hoping my old masters are still in good enough shape and the 722 will be a good way to get them to PC for some doctoring, flacing, etc. I guess do it at 24 bit?

Thanks, ts.

it's analog so you might as well  go all the way with 24/96 imho 8)

Not sure if you are one to do any post-transfer work (EQing or whatever), but someone elsewhere suggested you save your raw transfers as FLACs for the day when we have better technology, etc.

Good point. I will mostly just fix the levels, normalize maybe. But the biggest problem with the majority of them is hiss. I don't think there is anyway to get rid of that, yet. I never used dolby, and never had the Oade mod, so between those 2 factors and prolly poor storage, some of them are quite hissy :(.
