Title: tascam DA40 question

I was wondering if there is a way to check the number of hours on the heads on this unit.
I work in an ebay store and we have one now.

We had another tascam recently and there was a way to do this, I just can't recall what it was.
That one was not a DA40 though.

Also is there a way to check hours on a Sony D8?

I don't know about the Sony but on the DA40 you can ceck the hours (amongst other things) as one of the menu functions.

It comes up as "Drum-T" for (Drum-Time) (I'm not sure but I think it's the first item to be displayed when you press the "MENU" button.
