Title: DPA 130V mics
Post by: WiFiJeff on April 08, 2006, 01:48:20 PM
Does anyone know of a way to power the DPA 130V mics other than their 4000 0r 5000 preamp, which seem to require wall power?  I am looking for a portable battery-run solution, don't need the preamp just the 130V without a wall connection (or inverter plus twoton lead acid battery).

I know that the Grace Design m802 can provide the 130V.  While that's not a portable solution, it means that Grace knows how to do it.  it might be worthwhile to see if they can mod a V3 to power those mics.  it's just a shot in the dark, and might not lead you anywhere, but I'd say it's worth it to find out...

millennia has a built in 130v option too. My HV-3C has it.

Quite a few mic pres have the 130V powering option for DPAs. The Grace and DPA pres have already been mentioned, I have the Millennias but without the 130V option. My EAR and Crookwood preamps also have a 130V option so there's a pretty good range available. However, all of these are AC powered. I don't remember ever seeing a DC powered portable pre which has 130V power.
