Hello,
I've been searching for hours on here @ taperssections.com for a solution to my problem, and now feel the need to post.
UNIT - JB3
PARTICULARS - Latest firmware, drivers & NotMad Software
ERROR - Transferring large file (1.2GB - 1.5 hours of .wav @ 44.1) from JB3 to PC fails between 10%-70%. "Access to the file is denied" or "Cannot read file".. words to that effect.
ATTEMPS - Nomad Explorer, PlayCentre, NotMad, battery only, adapter only, but ALL fail between mentioned pecentages.
OTHER TROUBLESHOOTING - Tried transfering reg. MP3s (4-5MB) with successs.
PLEAD - Help.
Thanks!
- Jim

I'm assuming your trying the usb port...try the firewire port if you haven't. Also, maybe the cable is getting jostled? Or maybe the contacts are dirty? Maybe there's some sort of issue with the HDD on the NJB3? Sorry if i'm not being too helpful. :(

make sure you have enough room on the hard drive you are transferring to
and I would delete the bad transfer on the hard drive you are transferring (not on the JB3) to before re-trying the transfer again

Thanks fot the two suggestions. Firstly, I am using USB - unit is very stable (no jigglin'). Secondly, there is plenty of room on the destination drive. I have a few different drives with plently of room, and have tried all of them. I had thought that this might have something to do with a limit for a "temp" directory, or a pagefile issue, but.. 2GB of ram, pagefile set to 1.5x that - I wouldn't THINK there would be a problem. I do not have firewire, but am hesitant to get a firewire PCI card in HOPES that it will solve my problem. USB SHOULD work.
Thanks for the help - keep it coming!

just try a simple drag and drop if you can see the jb3 as a removable drive. IE dont use any software apart from explorer.
-
You can't just drag and drop with the JB3 and explorer. You have to use notmad or the creative software.

My work laptop was reimaged this past January. I had to reinstall all my software, etc. I really did not want to load the originial Creative software. I decided to try just loading the NOMAD Explorer. It works great! Below is what I installed:

http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?sOSName=Windows+XP®ion=1&Product_Name=NOMAD+Jukebox+3&Product_ID=296&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033&OS=10&drivertype=0&Image4.x=30&Image4.y=11
Applications:
Creative NOMAD Explorer (Version 3.01.10) - NMEX_PCApp_3_01_10.exe

creative nomad explorer and (windows) explorer are differnet. I assume because the above poster said just exploer (and mentioned a removable drive) and not creative explorer or notmad that is what he ment... could be wrong.

Agree, best thing I've done to manage / transfer my recordings off the NJB3.
-
maybe try a Disk Cleanup on the JB3?

Smash it you know you want too. I will buy it back from you for $50 ok :) let me know lol but do not smash it ok.
