Title: help with external DVD burner

I need to purchase one that will support DVD-A.  any suggestions?  planning on using with a laptop

not sure that dvd-a is a hardware issue, suspect it's purely software-related.  I've had great luck with the internal nec 3500a dvd drive that I bought from newegg.com for under $40 -- put it into an external case I also bought from newegg and it runs great as an external.

exactly - any DVD burner will be able to burn you a DVD-A disc, as long as you have the correct software.  and with free software available for DVD-A discs, it's not really an issue.  a while back, I bought an external HP burner, and it's been great for me.  although I'm sure that there are cheaper options available now...

ok...sounds good T's all around.

I'm trying to get to 24 bit now. so all I will have to have is a player that supports DVD-a then?

another vote for the nec 35xx drives!  I use mine as an internal but like he said you can get a external case for it.
