Hey all,
I own an edirol R1 and until now have been using an Audio Technica 822 that uses 1 AA battery for its power. Oade Bro's website says that you can plug your mics into the PS-2 and then directly into the R1. I'm sure they are not making this up, but can anyone tell if this will be enough to get a good signal into my R1? I don't have the money to spend on a good pre like the MP-2 etc. Any advice would be helpful before I make the purchase of the PS-2.
Thanks in advance!

this will power you mic, but will not provide gain
you will need a breakout cable, since the ps-2 is 2 xlr in... and some type of xlr>stereo mini y cord.
cheap clean gain can be had via line transformers... hosa mit 176 or AT... you will still need a patch cable.

I have a 2XLR into stereo mini on the way. should the line transformer be between the mics and the PS-2 or between the PS-2 and the R1?

between the ps-2 and r1
fyi, the transformers are xlr (f) > 1/4" (m) ts. you will actually need a dual 1/4" (f) mono > 1/8" stereo mini y-cable to use the transformers.

fwiw I'm using the ps-2 w/ the mit-176 setup and I'm getting decent gain. Different recorder but it's working out for me.
