Title: Bogen 3373
Post by: bkirby on September 04, 2003, 04:23:15 PM
I just received my new stand and the top has no threads. It is just a
stud. I purchased the 1/4" > 3/8" thread adapter and have another
adapter to go to 5/8". The problem is I have no threads on my stand.
Is there any way to remove this stud or is placed permanantly? I
have tried to unscrew it, but it's not budging. Should have I asked
for a threaded top or is there something I am missing?

There is a different adapter need for those type of stands - does the same as the adapters you have, but for this tip.  I think the stud is in there permanently.  Not sure if you can specify the type of tip...I have the same model stand and mine came with threads, so who knows.

Not sure of the part numbers, search the archive section for them - look at stands and adapters thread in the archive.

Another option is to just clamp onto your stand.  $15 for a clamp is a wise investment anyway if you don't have one.

I just had the same experience.  I could've sworn the 3373 came with a 1/4" thread, so I got the 1/4" > 3/8" > 5/8" adapter.  Doh!!  No threads, it's just a 5/8" stud.

Rabhan has the adapter you need in the link he posted.  And Goose makes a good point about clamps.  IMO, you can never have too many!

I have a great clamp and have the thread adapters. I guess I just need to get the adapter that John said. Just didn't want so much stuff on top of the stand...
Thanks everyone...

That's strange... My 3373 came with the 1/4 thread... Mine is a couple of years old though. I guess its changed.

I would think if your using this stand for low-profile stuff, you wouldn't want a clamp on there.

It seems like some of these come with 1/4" threads, and others with the 5/8" metal stud. Just wish I had asked the retailer which top it had first, but I'll live. Now I have to pay more shipping for this new part :banging head:. If you are looking at purchasing one of these, I would double check with the retailer as to what is on the top!!! Thanks again all...

remember that these bogen stands are light stands not mic stands, thats why they have the weird tip on them. you have to get all these adapters so you can retrofit the thread for microphones:

i use this one on my rowi clamp with the lo2b for quick mounting of the neumann stereo bar:
