Title: PMD660 Question
Post by: pmonk66 on May 11, 2006, 05:20:28 PM
I started taping this year and I am using a PMD660 stock (just didn't have the funds for an Oade) with a mic set up of SP-CMC-2/ISI-SPA-1. I get good sounding recordings but getting hammered by bass the last two shows I taped (Gilmour @ Radio City and Tea Leaf Green @ CBGB). The recordings are fine but a little bass heavy.

Would it make sense to use the line-in options that the PMD660 and get a battery box with bass roll off or continue with the set-up I use now and take advantage of the XLR plugs and Phantom Power the PMD660 provides???

Any info/help would be greatly appreciated.

How were you running in the 660 before?

If you have the phantom power option, then definitely use that.  Of course, you'll be consuming more power that way.  The bbox/roll-off option may or may not work...I couldn't tell ya..

Yours is not a stock-oade, correct? ...wasn't sure by what you said.

Salvagable ???  Ist a great sounding recording but I was in seat FF so I was very close to the stage and at some points the bass shock my teeth. I've used Adobe Audition to cutting dow on the bass a bit!
