Title: Extracting audio from old VHS
Post by: redbook on May 12, 2006, 03:09:40 PM
I have a few old VHS tapes that I'd like to get the audio of, and I was wondering what's the best way to do it.
My computer sound card is a shit so I think that wouldn't be the best option.

I have an UA5 and AD20, which I could use to transfer (then to JB3 via optical), my guess is those ADCs would be better than simply video > JB3 or video > soundcard

What's your suggestion on this?

thanks!

I'd go VHS> UA-5> USB to your computer.
Using USB will bypass your soundcard.  Just record with Audacity/SoundForge/whatever with the UA-5 as the selected source.
You could even do it at 24-bit!
