Title: Neumann KM-184 vs. SKM-184
Post by: ljramsey on May 19, 2006, 02:20:26 PM
I am considering buying a pair of Neumann mics. I am looking for a general opinion on KM-184 vs. SKM-184. It is my understanding the major differences are that the SKM-184s are stereo matched and come with active cables. I am not familiar with active cables, I run silver XLRs now.

Any input will be appreciated.

Peace,

Lee

the 184's DO NOT have active capsules. The capsules are attached to the mic bodies for recording purposes at all times. The SKM set difference is probably that 2 mics come in a nice wooen box instead of one.

However, the SKM-140 set does allow recording with active capsules, that is the difference. Good luck.
