Title: Bittorrent help...
Post by: RIPJJG on May 20, 2006, 04:26:18 PM
In the past three months my brand new computer has crashed four times. Every time It was during a DL. I get a message saying my c drive is unstable or, unreadable  run chkdisck.  Then same message about the dll file of the bittorrent client. Everything on my had drive is then gone. The hard drive has been replaced three times, the last time they replaced the hard drive, motherboard, and power supply. I've been running 2000pro, but I'm going to run xppro this time. I'm now worried about doing anymore d/ls. Anybody have ideas to what might be happening? I, and my computer retailer is stumped. I can't imagine not being able to d/l music. Need help, Please!

Thanks for the reply. And, no I couldn't. Everything is gone. Can't do a thing. When I reboot, I just get a blank screen and the hard drive is blank like it's been formatted.

You may try making a Ubantu boot disk.  It's pretty easy.  Ubantu is an easy to use flavor of Linux that will run completly from CD.  When setting up the boot CD you can include programs that will check your disk/scan for virus/do file recovery/ etc.

As for bittorrent I have never had any of those issues.  Make sure you have enough disk space to download what you want, make a folder just for downloading that is different than everyting else (maybe different drive).

Also.. what client are you using.  uTorrent is very good.
