Title: M-Audio Audiophile 2496 help
Post by: MUSH72 on September 08, 2003, 11:47:28 PM
Hey taper-gurus,

I've installed the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 on my computer and it can't seem to get it to work with Wavelab, Soundforge, or CoolEdit. I've tried to transfer from DAT and the software just locks up.

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition.

Anyone have any insight?

thanks,
Mush

what does "lock up" mean... are you recording and then it jus freezes up???

Exactly. The program(s) freezes completely. Wavelab was working fine until I went to switch it from 44.1/16 to 48/16...then it froze.

I'm assuming your using the driver that shipped with the 2496?
grab the newest driver from www.m-audio.com

I know the 5.10.00.26 and 5.10.00.27 drivers work flawlessly with Win2K and XP.

It was loaded with 5.10.00.29. I reloaded Wavelab. It froze up the first time, so I shut down completely. Restarted the computer and now it seems to be running fine. Beats me as to what the heck happened.

Guess I shouldn't have upgraded from my 5 year old computer and a hand-me-down soundcard (Guillemot Homestudio 64). That thing worked flawlessly for two years. Oh well, hopefully my woes are behind me. Second transfer rolling right now. Keeping my fingers crossed.
