Post by: F.O.Bean on June 05, 2006, 07:56:28 PM
i know theyre 6 volt or 12v versions, but can the v2 be run at 6>12volt, i wanna run my v2 at 7.2v rc packs and was just wondering :) >:D

Thanks,

if it's calibrated for 6V, then yes, it'll run just fine off 7.2volts (only the low battery light won't work).  however, if it's calibrated for 12V, then 7.2v will be below the cut-off voltage, and it won't turn on.  but if that's the case, you can just re-calibrate it to 6v, and you'll be good to go.

+T Jason, thanks alot :)

if its calibrated for 12v, i'll just pop the top and re-calibrate :)

If you recalibrate from 12v to 6v the DC offset will shift. I had Grace do mine because they are able to reset the DC offset - all they charged me for was shipping :coolguy:

Not sure I understand that one.  The V2 voltage calibration procedure (http://www.gracedesign.com/support/v2_voltage_calibration_procedure.html) posted at Grace doesn't mention it, either.  Sure it wasn't a separate issue, i.e. your V3 was serial # < V3100 and needed the DC offset issue fixed, so they had you send it in for the re-calibration and did the DC offset at the same time?

I have a V2, not a V3. I spoke with Jamie at Grace, after I sent it in for the 12v to 6v calibration (because I didn't want to do it myself)  - he said that the calibration caused the dc offset to shift. He then said that they had special equipment to reset the offset so they did so and returned it to me. That is exactly what Jamie at Grace told me. I have the receipt around here somewhere with this info on it...

My V2 serial # is V121, fwiw...

Huh.  Still confused, but...me no techie, so no surprise there.  Thanks for the additional info.

me no techie either - so I sent it to Grace ;D

sorry I could not be of more help - maybe I will call Grace tomorrow and get some more info....
