Hey all,
I've searched and read, but I thought i'd ask some opinions. I'm looking to upgrade the playback in my music-office. I'm lookin at M-adio monitors and dreaming about Dynaudio - whats a nice compromise. Approximately 300 bucks or so and am really looking for something powered (active), used and smallish.
I'm looking for something particularly good in the near field.
-
Okay - lets say 600 bucks - any thoughts?

The M-Audio speakers sound like crap.
See if you can get a deal through guitar center for the KRK V6 2 monitors they are amazing and not too large. The frequency response is great. I was able to get them to sell me a set for $600. KRK Rokit speakers aren't bad either but not nearly as accurate as the V series.

Id love to hear some more thought son your pc-monitor-style speakers..
thanks

back in the day i had a set of fostex ps3.1 monitors that were small, unobtrusive and sounded great.

Has anyone listened to the Audix PH5vs monitors? They're a good price @ $300 for a pair, I wonder how they sound.

I second the KRK V6's...
They are flat, and are great for mixing.
IMO, best you can get w/out stepping to more expensive models.

I'm afraid the KRKs are a little too pricey for my needs and use - I think I'm gonna go listen to pair of the Alesis M1s - goin for about 250 on ebay.
thoughts? I love your opinions

Hey there,
well if you're just looking for some decent sound in your office, maybe you don't need THE flattest monitor out there...
here a couple of options:
I've never heard these in person, but have heard a lot of good things about these Events:

These Samson are actually supposed to be decent:

And if you want some digi inputs/playback, these Rolands seem like a good deal:
